I am primarily an energy and utility industry specialist, focusing on power market and utility operations, regulatory reporting, cybersecurity, compliance and market surveillance. For over twenty five years my responsibilities have included solution delivery, delivery leadership, account development and sales. I have sold, delivered and managed projects with budgets from $20k to $150 million. I have worked with clients in multiple industries: Defence, entertainment, process controls and energy. Within the energy industry this includes major oil and gas companies, retail electric start-ups, heavily regulated ISO community to the less regulated trading communities. Through these experiences I have been privileged to acquire, and continue to grow, a deep understanding of the physical energy industries, and an excellent understanding of the associated commodity and trading environments. I also have extensive experience working directly with utility service providers both in North America and Europe. I am an active practioner in assisting clients in meeting the business and technical challenges in 2021 and beyond with recent work in OT cybersecurity, compliance, grid resilience, safe-secure remote working and the deployment of evolving technologies in Grid Modernization.
Employment Story
I started my career as a software developer/geophysicist in the oil supply business. I quickly moved to project management of software development for process controls, electric utilities and oil exploration. Moving into a more consultative role I created and led the Sales Engineering function at Omnicomp Graphics. This role focused on the provision of services around user interfaces for electric utilities, process controls and defense applications. These services included consulting, software development, custom manufacturing and third-party client support and training.
Since 1992 I have focused on providing business and technology related services to the energy industries, with responsibilities for the sales and delivery of management consulting solutions. I have successfully delivered engagements for assessments; advisory services; system integration; software development; end-to-end testing; program and project management; general business consulting; business transformation; process improvement; IT Strategy; SDLC methodology deployment. I am an active scholar of the continued evolution of hardware and software technologies including maintaining personal interest and capabiltiies in IoT, web-based application development for use in social networking and cutural histories.
